Flip flops cause health problems

Flip-flops are a big part of the summer scene. While they may be stylish and comfortable at first, flip-flops are in really cause problems for your feet, ankles, knees, hips and back. Flip-flop may be a popular shoe for the summer, but recent study by American School of Sports Medicine shows that this is a possible cause of discomfort and body aches. The study goes on to say that these are more harmful than other footwear including high heels. Prof. Wendi Weimer of Auburn University, says she became interested in the flip-flops when he noticed increased pain in the leg when her students returned from summer and the transition back into the use of tennis shoes and street shoes.

The researchers found that when study participants wore flip-flops, took shorter steps and their heels hit the ground with less vertical force than when wearing athletic shoes.
